SIP-15: Implement, adopt and enforce Samurai Levels v2

PreviousSIP-14: Deploy and fund Samurai Governance VaultNextSIP-16: Conduct ā€˜Settlement & Release’ initiative

Last updated 5 months ago

Motivation

This proposal suggests for the protocol to adopt and enforce a set of smart contracts (specified below) that enable, facilitate and provide access to an updated version of a previously existing feature of the Samurai protocol, called ā€œSamurai Levelsā€ in accordance with the previously approved governance proposal (SIP-13: Levels v2 Product feature set Ideation - )

The proposal suggests for Samurai Levels v2 to adopt the following frontend and smart contract updates:

  1. Initiate revenue generation by collecting fees

The proposal suggests that Samurai Levels v2 should introduce a fee collection mechanism. The collected fees shall be directed towards the protocol's treasury. By implementing this revenue generation strategy, Samurai Levels v2 aims to enhance its long-term viability and maintain its operational importance for the protocol.

  1. Expand the scope of knowledge base

In order to cater to a broader audience and foster a more diverse learning environment, the proposal suggests expanding the scope of Samurai Levels v2's knowledge base. This expansion would go beyond solely focusing on Solidity and web3-related topics, encompassing a wider range of subjects, including general web development and other digital knowledge/skills. By diversifying the knowledge base, Samurai Levels v2 aims to attract a larger user base, catering to individuals with varied interests and expertise, thus promoting a more inclusive and comprehensive learning experience.

  1. Implement a leaderboard

To enhance user engagement and promote a sense of competition among users, Samurai Levels v2 shall incorporate the use of a leaderboard. This feature will provide users with a clear view of their ranking and the number of points they have earned. By introducing a leaderboard, the platform aims to create a more user-friendly and interactive experience, encouraging healthy competition among learners. The introduction of a leaderboard shall serve as an amplifying social function that enhances the virality of the Levels product and can lead to greater user traction, increased user retention, and a heightened sense of competitiveness, ultimately contributing to a more vibrant and dynamic learning ecosystem.

  1. Change requirements

To mitigate the impact of arbitrageurs and ensure a more balanced and fair gameplay experience, the proposal suggests changing the requirements to participate in Samurai Levels v2. Specifically, the current requirement of having at least 1 Honour Node NFT in the wallet shall be increased to having at least 100 Honour Nodes in the wallet to be eligible to access and play Samurai Levels v2. By adjusting the requirements, a more secure and equitable environment would be created, discouraging excessive gaming of the system and promoting a level playing field for all protocol users. This change will contribute to the integrity and authenticity of the learning experience provided by Samurai Levels v2.

Furthermore, the protocol shall mint a tokenomic allocation of 20 000 000 xHNR for the purposes of facilitating the Samurai Levels v2 feature.

The protocol shall also forfeit its ownership of the existing Samurai Levels contract, which stores the 14 190 310 xHNR tokens to ensure that these tokens are not retrievable.
